Synopsis

This book, rich in empirical studies of Cameroon, Nigeria, Senegal and the Indian Ocean region, challenges economic models narrowly informed by statistical indicators, dichotomies and dualisms, which have tended to caricature and misrepresent the real economies of Africa. It highlights the urgency of developing new perspectives on African economies that privilege their lack of orthodoxy as a unit of analysis on its own right.
