Synopsis

In order to make the major thrust of this study, which is to ascertain the impact of microcredit on socio-economic life of women in the Central Region of Ghana a reality, this research work seeks to: assess and compare changes in the socio-economic situations of beneficiary and non-beneficiary women and their households; investigate the extent to which microcredit programme interventions have empowered women; examine the relationship between the socio-economic situations of women and microcredit programme interventions, socio-demographic characteristics of the women, and socioeconomic
characteristics of the women; and ascertain how microcredit programme interventions explain/affect changes in the socio-economic situations of women, and their empowerment.
